Surin Beach is where old-money Phuket meets new-money Instagram. The beach itself is arguably the most beautiful on Phuket's west coast — clean white sand, clear water, and backed by casuarina trees rather than concrete.

Surin attracted Phuket's luxury developments early. The result is a beach with high-end resorts, celebrity-chef restaurants, and beach clubs — but also one that's less crowded than Patong or even Kata because there are fewer budget hotels pulling in mass tourism.

The beach is relatively short (about 800 metres) but perfectly formed. The water quality is excellent, and the sunset views rival anywhere on the island.

Budget

Surin is harder on a tight budget than other Phuket beaches. Your best bet: P&P Samui Resort and nearby guesthouses on the roads behind the beach: 600-1,000 THB/night with a 10-minute walk to the sand.

Beach Clubs

Surin's beach club scene is Phuket's best: - Catch Beach Club — Upscale day-to-night beach club. Minimum spend on sunbeds (usually 500-1,000 THB which goes toward food/drinks). - Bimi Beach Club — Slightly more relaxed, excellent cocktails, sunset DJ sets. - Surin Beach restaurants — Several restaurants put tables on the sand at sunset. Is Surin Beach the best beach in Phuket?

For beauty and atmosphere, it's in the top three alongside Kata Noi and Freedom Beach. It loses to Kata for family-friendliness and to Patong for nightlife/convenience. If you prioritise beach quality and a sophisticated vibe, Surin is arguably number one.

Can you swim at Surin Beach?

From November to April, the swimming is excellent — calm, clear water with a sandy bottom. From May to October, strong waves and undertows make swimming dangerous. Red flags are posted when swimming is unsafe — always respect them. Surin has one of Phuket's stronger monsoon-season waves.

How far is Surin Beach from Patong?

About 10 kilometres, or 20-30 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Grab is the cheapest option at 200-400 THB. Surin is far enough from Patong to feel like a different world, close enough to visit for an evening if you want.
