EezyStay vs Booking.com for Thailand Hotels — What's Actually Different
If you're planning a Thailand trip and you've been comparing hotels, you've probably looked at Booking.com. It's the default — 28 million listings, every country, instant confirmation. So why would you use a specialist platform like EezyStay instead?
The short answer: because "biggest database" and "best fit for Thailand" aren't the same thing. This post is an honest comparison of what each platform does well, and when each one is the right choice.
The headline difference — breadth vs depth
Booking.com is a global marketplace. It lists more than 28 million properties in 200+ countries. Its strength is coverage: if you can think of a city, Booking.com has hotels there.
EezyStay is the opposite. We only list hotels in Thailand, and within Thailand we focus on a curated portfolio of beach, island and resort properties. That's roughly 100 vetted hotels across Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Phangan, Hua Hin and Pattaya.
One is a global database. The other is a hand-picked Thailand shortlist. Both have a place — which one fits you depends on the trip.
What EezyStay actually does well
- Thailand-only curation. Every hotel in the portfolio has been vetted by the EezyStay team. No bait-and-switch photos, no "renovation surprise" when you arrive, no 200 listings where the top 10 are ads for properties nobody would stay at.
- Local knowledge in the content. The blog and hotel pages are written by people who live in or work in Thailand. That means useful seasonal advice (Koh Samui in May is underrated, Phuket's west coast gets battered in July), real notes on which pool villas are actually quiet, and which "beachfront" listings are a 15-minute walk from the beach.
- Member rates on selected hotels. When you sign in, EezyStay shows member rates on a subset of the portfolio. These are negotiated directly with the property and stack with low-season pricing.
- Direct human support. Small team, not a Tier 1 / Tier 2 / Tier 3 queue. If something goes wrong with a booking, you talk to a person who can actually fix it.
What Booking.com does better
We don't want to oversell this — Booking.com does a lot of things very well, and for some trips it's the right tool.
- City hotels in Bangkok and Chiang Mai. EezyStay doesn't currently list Bangkok or Chiang Mai properties — our portfolio is beach and island focused. If you need a hotel near Sukhumvit or close to the Chiang Mai night market, Booking.com has the coverage we don't.
- Short, last-minute single-night stays. Booking.com's inventory density makes it the best option for "I need a room tonight in a random town" scenarios.
- Loyalty discounts if you already use it heavily. If you're a Booking.com Genius Level 2 or 3 traveller, the 10–15% loyalty discount on participating properties is a real benefit that EezyStay doesn't match directly.
- Multi-country trips. If your Thailand stay is one leg of a longer Southeast Asia trip, consolidating everything on one platform makes trip management simpler.
Pricing — the honest version
Let's deal with the obvious question: is EezyStay cheaper than Booking.com?
Not systematically, no. Our rates run close to parity with the major OTAs for the same room on the same dates. Sometimes EezyStay is a few percent cheaper, sometimes Booking.com wins a few percent. The variation is property by property and season by season, and neither platform is a guaranteed discount over the other.
If you're price-chasing to the last percent, the honest advice is: pick a few hotels you like, check both platforms, and book whichever is cheaper on your dates. That's what any careful traveller already does.
What EezyStay gives you isn't a blanket discount — it's curation, local context, and member rates on a smaller, vetted portfolio. That's worth more than a 3 percent price shuffle to travellers who don't want to hand-filter through 400 Phuket listings.
When to use EezyStay
- You're going to Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Phangan, Hua Hin or Pattaya
- You want a curated shortlist of beach, island or resort properties instead of a 400-hotel search result
- You value local context and vetted reviews over raw inventory
- You're a repeat Thailand traveller who wants member rates on the same kind of hotels you keep booking
When to use Booking.com
- You need a Bangkok or Chiang Mai hotel
- You're booking many countries in one trip and want one platform
- You're a Booking.com loyalty member and the Genius rate matters
- You need inventory density — cheapest possible room in a random town, tonight
How to compare for yourself
- Shortlist 3–5 hotels on EezyStay that match the destination, dates and style of trip you want
- Pull up the same hotels on Booking.com (they're on both)
- Compare total prices including taxes and resort fees — not just the headline rate
- Book wherever the final total is lower, and use the one with better cancellation terms if the prices are tied
If you end up on Booking.com for that particular trip, that's fine. If you end up on EezyStay, great — you'll get the curation and member rates on top of the booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is EezyStay different from Booking.com for Thailand hotels?
EezyStay is a Thailand-specialist booking platform. Booking.com lists more than 28 million properties in 200+ countries; EezyStay focuses exclusively on a curated portfolio of beach, island and resort hotels in Thailand, mainly Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Phangan, Hua Hin and Pattaya. The trade-off is breadth for depth — Booking.com has the bigger database, EezyStay has the local knowledge.
Is EezyStay cheaper than Booking.com?
No, EezyStay is not systematically cheaper than Booking.com. Our rates run close to parity with the major OTAs for the same rooms. The reason to book through EezyStay is the curation, local knowledge and member rates on selected properties — not a guaranteed price advantage. Always compare the final total including taxes and fees before booking on any platform.
Which Thailand destinations does EezyStay cover?
EezyStay covers Thailand's main beach and island destinations: Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi, Koh Lanta, Koh Phangan, Hua Hin and Pattaya. We currently do not list hotels in Bangkok or Chiang Mai — if you need city hotels in those destinations, Booking.com or Agoda are better options.
Is booking through EezyStay safe and reliable?
Yes. EezyStay is a verified booking platform with a curated portfolio of vetted Thai hotels. Cancellation policies are set by each property and displayed before booking, and direct customer support is available for disputes. The booking protection and payment process are comparable to major OTAs.
Does EezyStay have a loyalty or member rate programme?
Yes. Signed-in EezyStay members can access negotiated member rates on selected properties across the Thailand portfolio. Member pricing is shown alongside the public rate on each hotel page so you can see the difference before booking.
